Using AI to make something isn't the problem. Hiding it is. The AI Generated badge lets you publish AI-made work openly, so nobody feels misled.
What is the AI Generated badge?
The AI Generated badge is a free image you add to a website, blog post, portfolio or project README to say AI produced most of the work. A person may have written the prompts, chosen between outputs, reviewed the result and published it, but the words, images, audio or code mostly came from an AI tool. Using AI this way isn't something to hide. The badge lets you publish AI-made work openly and let people decide for themselves, instead of finding out later and feeling misled. It's one of three free AI disclosure badges from AI Honesty Badge, alongside No AI and AI Assisted. You add it with a short HTML or Markdown snippet that links back to aihonestybadge.com, where readers can see what it means. As with all three badges, nothing is verified. It relies on honesty.
Add it to your site
Paste it wherever you want the badge to appear: a footer, an about page, the top or bottom of a post, or a project README. Use HTML for websites and Markdown for GitHub. Either way it's a plain image link, so there's no JavaScript to load.

When should I use the AI Generated badge?
- AI produced most of the words, images, audio or code.
- Your part was directing, prompting, curating or reviewing.
- You want readers to know before they find out another way.
Not quite right? If you made the work yourself and AI only helped with parts of it, the AI Assisted badge is a better fit.
Like an honesty box, nobody checks. The badge works because people value being told the truth.

Tricky cases
- “I used AI to translate my writing”
- AI Assisted. The ideas and the original words are yours, and AI changed the language.
- “AI made the header image, but I wrote every word”
- AI Assisted for the post as a whole. If the distinction matters to your readers, say which part AI made.
- “A grammar tool rewrote some of my sentences”
- Fixing spelling and grammar is still No AI. Rewriting sentences for you makes it AI Assisted.
- “An AI coding assistant wrote parts of my project”
- AI Assisted if you designed it, reviewed the code and understand it. AI Generated if it wrote most of it and you mostly prompted and tested.
- “I heavily edited an AI-generated image”
- AI Generated. The badge describes where the work came from, and it started with AI. Mention the editing if you're proud of it.
