A simple way to be honest about AI
AI Honesty Badge is a free set of AI disclosure badges. Add one to a website, blog post or project README to show whether the work was made with no AI, with AI assistance, or by AI from a brief.
Why it exists
A lot of writing, design and code is now made with AI. Readers, clients and collaborators want to know how much, and there wasn't a simple, shared way to tell them.
Nothing is checked or enforced. The badges work because being honest about how something was made builds trust, and people notice when it's missing.
How it works
Made by people, start to finish, without AI.
A person led the work, and AI helped along the way.
AI made it from a brief, with little shaping by a person.
Pick the badge that honestly describes your work, copy the HTML or Markdown snippet, and paste it where you want the badge to appear. The image is served from this site, so there's nothing to install. Free for any use, including commercial. Hotlinking is fine and no attribution is required. The badges and snippets are also on GitHub.
Who's behind it
AI Honesty Badge is made by Steven Hylands, a designer and founder in Belfast. He's the co-founder and CPO of Stora, builds his own software with AI, and writes about why you should too.
This site uses its own badge
AI helped with the content and development of this site, so it carries the AI Assisted badge in its footer. Using AI openly is the whole point.
